02 Application

Where Formic Acid 85% earns its place.

The commercial functions this grade supports, and the process reason it is specified rather than a substitute.

APP-01

Leather Tanning & Deliming Fixation

Provides gentle, uniform pH reduction in tanning drums, enhancing chrome penetration and cross-linking without damaging collagen fibers or causing grain harshness.

APP-02

Natural Rubber Latex Coagulation

Standard coagulant for field latex into high-grade rib smoked sheets (RSS), producing higher tensile strength and consistent sheet elasticity compared to sulfuric acid.

Hazard statements

  • H314: Causes severe skin burns and eye damage
  • H226: Flammable liquid and vapor

Required PPE

  • Acid gas respirator / cartridge mask
  • PVC or butyl gloves
  • Face shield and rubber apron

Storage & compatibility

Store in acid-resistant, ventilated chemical sheds away from heat sources and strong oxidizers. Vapors are pungent and corrosive to respiratory membranes.

Incompatible: Sulfuric acid (decomposes into toxic carbon monoxide gas) · Strong bases · Oxidizing agents.

Line-specific questions

Formic Acid 85% — buyer questions

Documentation, pack choice, storage and custom specifications for this line.

Ask the technical desk
01 What documentation ships with Formic Acid 85%?

Every dispatch carries a lot-specific certificate of analysis, the current safety data sheet revision, a GST tax invoice, a packing list and the origin weighbridge slip. Export consignments add an IMDG declaration and, on request, a certificate of origin. The COA is issued against the actual batch number and retained in our archive for twelve months.

02 Which pack format should we specify?

Stock options for this line include 35 kg HM-HDPE Carboys; 250 kg HDPE Drums; 1,200 kg IBC Totes. Trial work usually starts with a carboy or drum; production volumes move to IBCs, jumbo bags or tankers where the product and site permit. The load estimator below converts tonnage into units, pallets and container utilisation for each pack.

03 How should Formic Acid 85% be stored?

Store in acid-resistant, ventilated chemical sheds away from heat sources and strong oxidizers. Vapors are pungent and corrosive to respiratory membranes. Recommended shelf life: 24 months in sealed HDPE containers. Incompatible materials include Sulfuric acid (decomposes into toxic carbon monoxide gas); Strong bases; Oxidizing agents.

04 Can you supply against a customer-specific specification?

Yes, for repeat volumes. Send the assay, moisture, trace-metal and packing limits to the technical desk. We check them against the source plant’s capability, run a trial lot where needed, and hold the agreed limits in the annual supply agreement. Standard stock material remains available in parallel.

07 Procurement desk

Put a specification in front of a person.

Three short steps — product, volume, company — route your requirement to the Ankleshwar desk with the grade and packing already attached. Quotes are issued against a real lot, not a price list.
